Tree Creeper

I was lucky enough, on 29 May 2006, to meet a family of Tree Creepers in the woods behind Largs. Piercing whistles alerted me to the presence of the birds. I managed to take a few photos before they all flew off.

Young bird
Tree Creepers have a curious habit of running up trees then falling back down again, repeating this over and over again as they look for food in the bark. These two young birds had not quite mastered this technique - they tried running up AND DOWN, usually ending up falling off the tree, forced into flight !
